Baptism

This morning in our worship service, we celebrated as seven people were baptized!

Baptism is a symbol or picture of the washing that has taken place inside of us when we ask Christ to be the Leader and savior of our lives, and a symbol of Christ's death and resurrection.

"Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. For if we have been joined with Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of His resurrection." Romans 6:3-5

GLORIOUS DAY

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed

Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine

Discipleship

I am very excited about starting our new youth discipleship series on March 7th entitled “The Gospel.” Our goal is to draw you into a deeper, more intimate relationship with God and eachother. The course will be a challenging six week adventure where we explore: The Endless Frontier – the essence of historic Christianity, Grace – the Gospel secret revealed, Scripture – seeing Christ on every page, Opposition – recognizing the enemy tactic, Kingdom – the ruling domain, and The Burning Bush – the baptism of fire.

Due to the purpose and style of the course, it is going to take a commitment from you to attend each session. Because I want to be able to interact with you on a more personal basis, the class will be limited to ten students who regularly attend First Christian Church. We’ll meet in my home on Sunday nights from 5:15-6:15, and I need to know by March 5th if you are interested.

I think this is a wonderful opportunity to increase our knowledge of Scripture, and mature in our relationship with God. I’m looking forward to going through this course with you – I have been through it and have been challenged and inspired over and over again by the beauty and majesty of God and His Word. I am passionate about Jesus Christ, and it is my desire to see the Scriptural pattern of Christianity exemplified in your lives. If you are interested in learning the basics of triumphant Christian living, then this is a good place to start.

Sleigh Ride & Basketball Game

We had a small group of girls (and our wonderful sleigh driver, Mr. Gordon) on Friday night when we set off in a two horse open sleigh. The weather was beautiful as we traveled through the field where we saw a herd of deer. When we got into the woods, we watched the sun set through the trees.

Mrs. Gordon had gone ahead of us and prepared a crackling, toasty campfire - where we cooked hot dogs and s'mores. We shared stories, and some of the girls got a closer look (and were quite smitten) with the horses. As the sun continued to go down, we gathered closer and closer to the warm fire until we climbed back up in the sleigh and headed back to the house.

The air was crisp and the sky was clear. We were all amazed at the wonder of God's creation as we gazed up into the sky and identified the pictures that God had painted there.

"LORD, our Lord, how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with Your majesty...When I observe Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You set in place." Psalm 8:1 & 3

"God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend. For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth'..." Job 37:5-6a

--- After the sleigh ride, we went to the varsity girls basketball, where we cheered them on as they finished their season with a perfect 18-0 record. ---
