Screen on the what!? It's like a drive-in movie without the car. We show a movie on the side of the church (that's the screen) and you sit on the grass (that's the green) and watch it. It's something new we're going to try, and I think it will be a lot of fun -- so invite your friends and family!
Bring a blanket with you to the church lawn and watch the movie Soul Surfer with us on Wednesday, August 10th! We'll start at dark (probably around 9) - but come a little early (8:30-8:45) and get set up while you can still see. We'll have popcorn, and you're welcome to bring your own drinks and other snacks.
Soul Surfer is the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton. Bethany lost her left arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a champion again, through her sheer determination and unwavering faith.
Bethany (AnnaSophia Robb) was born to surf. A natural talent who took to the waves at a young age, she was leading an idyllic life on Kauai, participating in national surf competitions with her best friend Alana (Lorraine Nicholson), when everything changed. On Halloween morning, a 14-foot tiger shark came out of nowhere and seemed to shatter all her dreams.
Soul Surfer reveals Bethany's fight to recover from her ordeal and how she grappled with the question of her future. Strengthened by the love of her parents, Tom (Dennis Quaid) and Cheri (Helen Hunt), and supported by her youth group leader Sara (Carrie Underwood), Bethany refuses to give in or give up, and begins a bold return to the water.

30 Hour Famine
It's not your average group activity. (This one saves lives.)
Nearly 8,000 kids die each day because of hunger. Some starve. Some get sick and their hungry bodies are too weak to fight. Either way, the result is the same.
Another child dies every 10 seconds.
You can do something about it. You can band together with students and youth groups all over the world to fight hunger. Save lives. Write a different story for the planet.
Just imagine. We could be the generation who banished hunger to the history books.
So what exactly is the
Students around the world loving God and fighting hunger. It's that simple.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of students do the Famine. They go without food for 30 hours. They learn what it takes to stop hunger in its tracks. They raise funds to help feed and care for tens of thousands of kids all over the world.
And because the 30 Hour Famine is powered by World Vision, you're not just feeding kids for a day. You're helping them overcome poverty for a lifetime.
What do students get out of the Famine?
Their eyes are opened to a world of hunger and hope. Their minds are filled with the understanding needed to fight poverty and injustice. They experience hunger firsthand to help feed and care for hungry kids.
The result? Not only are students helping save lives by doing the Famine they are growing closer to God and each other while they change the world.
Ready to change lives? Let's do this.
Friday, May 6th, beginning between 12 & 12:30 students will start fasting (not eating anything - just drinking water or juice). At 6:00 Friday night, we'll meet at First Christian Church...and stay there until 6:30 on Saturday night (when we'll eat!).
In the mean time, students should be asking for donations to World Vision to save the lives of starving children. One dollar will feed a child for a day!

Paint & Play
Several girls got together at church and painted one of the classrooms downstairs. We're not professionals, but it looks a lot brighter and better than it did!
